SOMETIMES ITS BETTER NOT KNOWING.

It’s hard moving forward when you feel like you don’t have all the information you need. We crave certainty, clarity, and control—especially when it comes to making important decisions or navigating life’s challenges. We want to know every possible outcome, every reason why things happened the way they did, and what’s going to happen next. It’s human nature to seek answers and to feel unsettled when we don’t have them. But the reality is, there are just some things in life that we’re better off not knowing. The unknown, while uncomfortable, can often be a blessing in disguise.

Learning how to let go in these situations is critical for our happiness, peace of mind, and personal growth. If we spend too much time dwelling on the things we can’t understand or waiting for answers that may never come, we rob ourselves of the opportunity to move forward. The need for closure or certainty can keep us stuck, causing us to replay scenarios in our minds or obsess over details that don’t really serve us in the long run. Letting go doesn’t mean giving up or ignoring the desire for understanding—it means choosing not to let the lack of answers control your life. It’s about accepting that, sometimes, not knowing is part of the journey, and that we can still make progress without having all the pieces of the puzzle.

What’s something that you need to let go of not knowing today? Is there a question that’s been lingering in your mind, keeping you from taking that next step? Maybe it’s an unanswered “why” from a past experience, a decision that didn’t go your way, or a relationship that ended without explanation. Or perhaps it’s uncertainty about the future—worrying about what’s coming next and feeling paralyzed by the fear of the unknown. Whatever it is, ask yourself how it’s been holding you back. What have you been waiting for? What is the answer that you feel you need in order to move forward? And most importantly, why do you feel you need that answer?

In many cases, we find that the things we’re holding onto, the unknowns we’ve been waiting to resolve, are not actually necessary for us to take our next step. Sometimes, the need to know is more about fear—fear of making the wrong decision, fear of the unknown, or fear of letting go of

the past. But when we look closely, we often realize that we don’t need to have all the answers to move forward. We can choose to trust ourselves, trust the process, and trust that, in time, the things we don’t understand will either become clear or no longer matter.

Letting go of not knowing is an act of self-compassion. It allows us to release the mental burden of trying to figure everything out and to focus on what we can control: our actions, our mindset, and our response to the unknown. When we let go of the need for answers, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and experiences that we might have missed if we were too focused on the past or too anxious about the future. We create space for growth, for joy, and for the unexpected opportunities that life has to offer.

So, what has not knowing been holding you back from? Is it stopping you from taking a leap of faith, from pursuing a new opportunity, or from healing and moving on from something that hurt you? Take a moment to reflect on how much power you’ve given to the unknown, and then ask yourself: Is it worth it? What would your life look like if you chose to let go of that need for certainty and allowed yourself to move forward, trusting that you will figure things out along the way?

At the end of the day, life is filled with unknowns, and we will never have all the information we think we need. But we don’t have to. What matters most is not what we know, but how we choose to navigate the uncertainties. Embrace the mystery, trust your instincts, and allow yourself to find peace in the not knowing. Your future is waiting, and you don’t need to have all the answers to step into it.
